Why Do Sheepadoodle Dogs Make Such Good Family Pets?
A Sheepadoodle puppy is shown.

Prairie Hill Puppies are happy, healthy, and well-socialized doodles, raised in a home environment. Our doodle puppies are bred with the best traits in mind: temperament, outstanding confirmation, and socialization. One of the “doodles” breeds we specialize in is Sheepadoodle.

History

The Sheepadoodle breed began in the 1960s when the United States Army experimented with breeding them as military dogs. The term “doodle” was first used in 1992, to describe Goldendoodles and Schnoodles.

What is a Sheepadoodle?

A Sheepadoodle is a cross between an Old English Sheepdog and a Poodle. The Old English Sheepdog is crossed with either a regular, miniature, or toy poodle parent, which affects the size of the offspring.

Sheepadoodle Characteristics

Sheepadoodles take on the characteristics of both the Poodle and Old English Sheepdog. Poodles are lively, active, and fun-loving dogs that thrive on attention. They are very intelligent and trainable. Old English Sheepdogs are known for their watchfulness, courage, kindness, and intelligence. They are patient and protective.

Poodles are also hypoallergenic, so Sheepadoodles do not shed and are also hypoallergenic. This allergy-friendly breed is very intelligent and even-tempered. They make great family pets and are good additions to families with young children. They are loyal, friendly, and love to cuddle.
