Goldendoodles FAQ

What is a Goldendoodle? It is a mixed breed of a pure bred Golden Retriever and a Poodle. Do Goldendoodles Shed? Usually they do not shed it depends on the generations. F1 may shed slightly where the F1b and so on will be minimal to no shedding. We recommend the F1b and Multigen doodles for people with allergies. What Does F1 and F1b? F1 is the first cross of a Golden Retriever and the Poodle. F1b is a Goldendoodle bred back to a Poodle. F2b is a F1 Bred to a F1b. F3 and higher are called a multigeneration. How Big are Goldendoodles? There are different sizes of Goldendoodles. Standards are 50 pounds and up. Medium Goldendoodles range from 35 to 50 pounds. Miniature Goldendoodles are 30 pounds or less. Are Goldendoodles good with kids and other pets? YES! Goldendoodles are great with children and other animals. The Goldendoodles are also a great choice for therapy dogs and emotional support dogs. They love to fetch, hike, swim and just enjoy being with their people. How Long do Goldendoodles live? On average they live 12 to 17 years. Miniature and medium may liver longer than the standards. Daily exercise quality food and vitamins like Nuvet are all key to boosted longevity and healthy life. Are Goldendoodles AKC registered? Because your puppy is a Goldendoodle it is not AKC registered. However on thing that sets us apart from other doodle breeders is that all of our pure breeds, Golden Retriever, Poodle Etc. are AKC registered which allows us to participate with UABR United All Breed Registry. Which provides your Goldendoodle with a puppy registration form and a pedigree. How Long does it take to house train a Goldendoode? We work with them from 6 to 8 weeks of age going out the dog door. At 8 weeks they usually have it figured out. Even if you don't have a dog door at home this process helps establish that your puppy needs to go outside to potty. When you take your puppy home we recommend crate training. Goldendoodles are highly intelligent and my opinion on of the easiest doodles to house train. They could have it down as early as one week some may take longer.
