What is a Bernedoodle? It is a mixed breed of the purebred Bernese Mountain Dog and a purebred Poodle. Do Bernedoodles Shed? Usually not, but it is possible that the first generation (F1) Benedoodle may have low shedding. F1b Bernedoodle coats are curly and do not shed. What Does F1 and F1b Mean? F1 is the first cross of a Bernese Mountain Dog and a Poodle. F1b is the Bernedoodle bred back to a Poodle. What coat types do Bernedoodles Have? F1 Bernedoodles will have thick, wavy coats. The F1b Bernedoodle will also thick and fleecy but will have wavy to curlier coat. Are Bernedoodles Good With Kids and Other Pets? Yes. Bernedoodles love to be around kids and other animals They enjoy other peoples company as well as other dogs. What size are Bernedoodles? Standard size Bernedoodles can weigh 50 to 90 pounds and be 23 to 28 inches tall at the shoulder. Medium sized Bernedoodles can weigh 35 to 50 pounds and be 18 to 22 inches tall at the shoulder. How long does it take to house train a Bernedoodle? We work with them from 6 weeks to 8 weeks of age going out the dog door. At 8 weeks they usually have if figured out. Even if you don't have a dog door at home this process establishes that your puppy needs to go outside to potty. When you take your Bernedoodle home we recommend crate training. Bernedoodles are smart and eager to please. It should only take a few weeks to house train them. Are Bernedoodles AKC Registered? Because your puppy is a Bernedoodle it will not be registered with AKC. However one thing that sets us apart from from other doodle breeders is that all of our purebred Bernese Mountain Dogs and Poodles are AKC registered which allows us to participate with UABR United All Breed Registry. They will provide your Bernedoodle with a puppy registration form and a pedigree.
